Montella: A summer of dreams

Milan boss Vincenzo Montella admits “my dreams have come true” this summer and asserts he wants to “bring the club back among the top five in the world”.

Milan have signed 10 players at a cost of over €200m since their Chinese takeover at the end of last season, and Montella is confident his new-look squad will gel before long, while also singling out Leonardo Bonucci, M’Baye Niang and Mino Raiola.

“It’s been, and still is, a summer of dreams,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“But the beauty is that my dreams have come true, and yet we’re still not done.

“Perhaps the number of players we’ve bought and the expense that has been spared for them has caused a stir, but the fact remains that the club are doing something extraordinary.

“It’s been an aggressive market to get closer to Napoli. This team will gel over time. I’d like to be the one that brings the club back among the top five in the world.

“Bonucci? He’s a great professional: I don’t know whether Juve have been weakened, but we’ve strengthened ourselves.

“Niang? I’d keep him, he only needs to learn how to manage himself.

“Raiola? I have nothing against him and I don’t think he has anything against me.”
