Tactician Emiliano Mondonico admits that he was somewhat surprised to be sacked by Novara this week.

Mondonico stepped in for Attilio Tesser at the end of January, but was replaced by the same man after picking up five points from his six games in charge.

“I was obviously upset, but if I have to be honest then I was more stunned than disappointed,” he told Radio Mana Mana.

“The team always battled and I thought that I could see the season through. However, Coaches know what risks they take.

“I took charge of the team when they were at the bottom of the table, so I already knew what difficulties I would face.”

Mondonico, 65, was welcomed back into the football world after his recent battles against cancer and he insists he’s ready for another challenge.

“If another club offered me a job then I feel ready to accept it,” continued the former Torino and Atalanta” data-scaytid=”12″>Atalanta boss.
