“Roma is a club which historically has very high demands,” Monchi told Berto Gallego on his YouTube channel.

“Roma is a club which historically has very high demands,” Monchi told Berto Gallego on his YouTube channel.
“It’s a club where you feel the pressure and you need to get results. My goal, above all, is to consolidate a project which has come very close to these titles.
“I have to keep the project at the top and give it consistency and style. Obviously my objective is to fulfil the dream of any Romanista: to win a trophy.
“At Roma you can’t circumvent that, it’s an objective.”
Monchi was also asked about the Rome derby, having experienced it for the first time in the win over Lazio.
“The derby we won wasn’t really my first, because when I arrived last year we played one and unfortunately lost.
“Obviously I felt this one with even more intensity, I can say I’m really starting to live it like a derby, even if it’s still a bit difficult for me because my relationship with the city isn’t as strong as in Seville.
“I have to admit though that in the week of the derby I started to realise what it means.
“I went to the supermarket and people would tell me: ‘Direttore, we have to win this match’; and the same in the restaurant and on the street.
“I felt very much how the players and fans celebrated the win. I think it’s similar to Sevilla, because we have two sets of passionate fans.
“We won and that’s good, it was a perfect experience.”
