Transfer gossip continues to swirl around the Giallorossi in the final 24 hours of the January window, with Besiktas defender Vida and Boca Juniors midfielder Barrios linked.
“I can’t say anything right now, because neither of them play for Fiorentina,” replied Monchi to Rai Sport when asked about Vida and Barrios.
“The important thing now is the match, whereas the transfer window closes tomorrow. The Coach and I are looking at the market to find what could improve the squad and so far we’ve found nothing. This is the team, we have impressive players.
“In any case, the most important thing right now is the match.”
Monchi was also asked about the need to lock Nicolò Zaniolo down to a new contract after Juventus director Fabio Paratici reportedly left behind a list of targets with his name included.
“Yesterday I spoke to the President of Barcelona, because I wrote Leo Messi’s name down on a piece of paper,” joked the director.
“Evidently they have to lock Messi down too, because I wrote his name down and so I can go sign him. Let’s not be silly, Zaniolo is a Roma player and we are happy to have him with us.”
