Roma put their mini-slump behind them with a 4-0 victory over Frosinone on Wednesday, and Monchi was asked about what it would take for the Giallorossi to beat Lazio at the weekend.

“I’m privileged to be here, it was a beautiful evening, full of beautiful things,” he told Sky Sport Italia from the Colosseum in Rome, where he was present for the launch of Francesco Totti’s autobiography.

“My arrival in Rome let me experience these things and I’m happy to be here and to have experienced a piece of Francesco’s career as a player and now as a director.

“He’ll be a powerful figure in Roma’s future, accompanying those who will arrive and also the important players we already have.

“The derby is something unique. I experienced so many derbies in Seville, they’re worth more than three points.

“It’s a win of the heart, the fans. It’s 11 against 11 on the field, but with many more hearts off it.”
