The Giallorossi have been very active on the transfer market this summer, but they are the centre of many other reports too.

During today’s presentation press conference for new buys William Bianda and Ante Coric, Monchi was asked if Napoli winger Mertens was a target.

“No,” was the clear and succinct reply.

He was then questioned on Sweden international Forsberg, who is reportedly leaving RB Leipzig.

“I know Forsberg well, but you might like to know I don’t like to sign players after a good World Cup, because things change very quickly.

“Forsberg is a very good player, but we have to differentiate between who is talented and who we need to buy. The Coach (Eusebio Di Francesco) likes him too, but that doesn’t mean we’re trying to sign him.

“After all, I like Eden Hazard, but I’m not going to buy him – unfortunately!”

Roma already picked up Justin Kluivert from Ajax and are reported to be going for his teammate Ziyech too.

“I can’t say 100 per cent no, as he’s a player I have been watching for some time, but we have so many players in his position right now.”
