Monaco have joined Olympique Lyonnais in chasing Roma midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who turned down a move to Galatasaray.

The Frenchman was purchased from Sevilla last year for €26m, but struggled to make an impact and is widely expected to leave this summer.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Monaco have begun negotiations with Roma and hope to secure a deal soon.

Sportitalia report that Lyon are still in the lead, whereas Calciomercato.it suggest Galatasaray didn’t even get to make an offer before he rejected the option outright.

Transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà claims Roma would be prepared to sell for just €20m, which is less than they paid to sign him a year ago.
