Pellegri won’t turn 17 until next month, but his ascent up the football ladder might continue apace anyway.

“I would love to play him later on in the season, so he has a little more time to get to know our training methods, his teammates and the environment,” said Jardim in a Press conference.

“However, with all these absences, if he is ready, then maybe he’ll play sooner than expected…”

Monaco will face Angers at the weekend without Radamel Falcao, Diego Benaglio and Adama Traoré, while Rachid Ghezzal, Daniel Subasic, Jorge, Thomas Lemar and Adama Diakhaby are not 100 per cent fit.
