Roma star Henrikh Mkhitaryan is ‘not convinced’ by the official reasons provided for his exclusion from the Armenia national team.
Armenia will face Croatia and Sweden in June, but the Giallorossi attacking midfielder has been excluded from the team.
“To my suprise, I’ve been informed by the coaching staff of the Armenian National Team that, for whatever reasons, I wasn’t called up for the upcoming games,” the 32-year-old wrote on Twitter.
“The provided official reasons aren’t convincing to me. I wish however the best of luck to our boys in the matches to come.”
His contract with Roma is due to expire at the end of the season.
Mkhitaryan was Roma’s leading scorer in Serie A this season with 13 goals in 34 games.
He netted 15 times in all competitions this season and only Borja Mayoral has done better than him with 17 goals scored across league and cup games.
