Henrik Mkhitaryan looked at the challenges on the horizon as he and Inter prepare for the second half of the season.

The Nerazzurri have come to the end of their five-day training camp in Malta, working to be ready for a tough six months. Inter did not start the season particularly well and currently sit fifth in the league table with 30 points, so they’re hungry to make up for lost ground in the coming months.

Speaking to SportMediaset, Mkhitaryan first discussed the team’s mindset heading into the second half of the season.

“We have to prepare well and start off strong. We know that the first match against Napoli is very important, we must do everything to win it. If we succeed, we’ll stay in the fight for the top places.”

He commented on his favourite position to play on the pitch.

“I’m interested in playing, no matter where. I want to make my contribution, help the team and play even more to reach the goals.”

The Armenian spoke about the importance of veteran striker Edin Dzeko.

“Hopefully he’ll help the team even more, he’s very strong. For me he’s a maestro, I’ve known him for three years.

“He hasn’t changed, he’s only getting better. We hope to have him here for another few years, he’s important for us.”

Finally, Mkhitaryan discussed Inter’s first game of 2023 against league leaders Napoli.

“It’s early to talk about this challenge, but we have everything in our heads, we know how important it is.

“We must do everything to win that one and the ones after. My goal for 2023 is to win trophies with Inter.”

The 33-year-old Mkhitaryan has made 18 appearances across all competitions this season, for a total of 1119 minutes. In that time, he’s scored two goals and provided one assist.
