Coach Paulo Fonseca has admitted he would love to see the former Manchester United player move on a permanent deal to the Giallorossi and the player has revealed he wants to remain and help the club win something.
“From the first day I arrived in Rome, I felt good in the city and with the team,” he told during an interview with the Armenian Embassy, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
“It would obviously be nice to stay here. The main target is to reach the Champions League and to win titles.
“Serie A has its particularities, many underestimates it, but it’s fascinating as a championship. Perhaps it’s not like it was 20 years ago, but I’m happy to see the competition continuing to grow and my loan from last year speaks for itself.
“I’m happy to play in Italy. I had heard the fans here were crazy in a good way. But I didn’t think they really were. I’m very happy to play for Roma and their fans.”
Mkhitaryan revealed that his first trip to Rome made him realise how passionate the fans really was.
“When I was flying from London to Rome, the steward asked me if I had already signed. I replied that I still don’t know, then once I arrived at Fiumicino there were many people there and a lot of journalists.
“The press office at Roma explained that in Italy they are crazy about football and this was perfectly normal. It makes the passion around the team clear.”
The 31-year-old has praised the young talent at the Giallorossi and hopes to see them help the club fight for trophies, as he would personally love to leave a mark on the city.
“I have already won a lot, but that’s in the past. I want to collect more next year because when you stop, everyone will wonder what you contributed to,” he added. “It’s important for me to leave a positive message by winning something.
“There are some great talents at Roma and I hope they will be able to achieve their goals."
