Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s season started with a frustrating hamstring injury but he’s reportedly working hard to be fully fit in time for the Derby della Madonnina.
The 33-year-old Armenian forward joined the Nerazzurri last month on a free transfer, leaving Roma to join up with Simone Inzaghi’s side. Mkhitaryan came off the bench in Inter’s season opener against Lecce, playing 33 minutes of action. Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury straight after, forcing him to the sidelines.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Mkhitaryan is not expected to return in time for Inter’s upcoming match against Lazio on Friday, but he could make an appearance in the following game against Cremonese.
The Armenian forward is keen to be fully fit in time for the derby against Milan, a key that could ultimately prove key in the Serie A title race. Inter don’t want Mkhitaryan to rush his recovery, but are confident that he’ll be ready for the derby.
Sit this one out, Mikhi. One compatriot to another. As it is, you’re on the wrong side of the Milan divide.
