There are developments at Roma with news Amadou Diawara is open to leaving in January, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan will probably be allowed to leave as a free agent.

The Giallorossi have already brought in Sergio Oliveira and Ainsley Maitland-Niles during the January transfer window, but cannot bring in another midfielder until Diawara leaves.

So far, he has turned down every proposal for both loans and permanent transfers, but a meeting with the player’s agent today seemed to change the scenario.

According to multiple sources, he has now accepted the possibility of moving on loan and has been linked with Sampdoria and Cagliari.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims negotiations with Mkhitaryan for a new contract have hit a standstill and they are likely to go their separate ways in the summer.

The 33-year-old is only under contract until June 30 and is not expected to remain at the Stadio Olimpico beyond that date.

So far this season, the Armenia international has three goals in 26 competitive appearances.
