Former Genoa star Kazuyoshi Miura has just signed a new playing contract with Yokohama FC a month shy of his 52nd birthday.

“I will not waste it for one minute, one second,” said the Japan international.

“I think that I want to go face to face with football and go to daily training with maximum power.”

The striker is continuing his remarkable career, which started all the way back in 1986.

He made history as the first ever Japanese player in Serie A, wearing the Genoa jersey in the 1994-95 campaign.

His other clubs have included Santos, Coritiba, Verdy Kawasaki, Dinamo Zagreb, Vissel Kobe and Sydney FC.

‘Kazu’ Miura has been playing for Yokohama FC since 2005, joining when he was already 38.
