Fabio Miretti called his new Juventus contract ‘a source of pride and satisfaction’ and touched on his plans for the future in Turin.

The 19-year-old Italian midfielder was promoted to the Bianconeri first team last season by Massimiliano Allegri, where he made 40 appearances across all competitions, seeing 1832 minutes of action.

Last week, Miretti signed a new long-term contract with Juventus, tying him to the club until June 2027, showing their belief in the teenager.

Speaking to Tuttosport via Calciomercato.com, Miretti first discussed his plans for the coming 2023-24 season.

“Now I’m thinking about the two friendlies with Milan and Real Madrid, then when we return from America we’ll decide which will be the best path. There has been interest from some teams, but for now I I’m calm.”

He gave his thoughts on the ongoing pre-season tour in the United States.

“Last year I started the season late due to commitments with the national team, this year it’s nice to have my first tour with Juve.

“My enthusiasm is the same as last season, I feel Allegri’s confidence and his advice for me is a motivation to grow, last season he gave me space and responsibility that I tried to repay on the pitch.”

The teenager reflected on his season with the Bianconeri last term.

“Shortly after the injury, in the second half of the season I had a period in which I wasn’t physically well, then I alternated ups and downs but always remaining serene.”

Miretti discussed his role in the midfield.

“I always prefer to play mezzala to drop deep and advance between the lines, I also like to play around on the pitch and play with my teammates.”

He underlined his desire to find the back of the net with the first team.

“It hasn’t arrived yet, it would be nice to do it after all these years in the youth team. The goal, however, is to score many, you just need to break the ice.”

The 19-year-old spoke about his recent contract renewal with the club.

“It’s very important to me, it represents the continuity of a path that has been going on for years. The extension with Juve is a source of pride and satisfaction. The club has always shown me trust, this is cherry on the cake.”

Finally, Miretti looked back at Italy Under-21’s ill-fated European Championship campaign.

“We dreamed of the Olympics, the European Championship was a disappointment for the whole team.

“There were some refereeing errors against France, but we had to react differently, and we weren’t very good against Norway, we didn’t take advantage of the chances.

“In a tournament like this you can’t afford to make mistakes.”
