Mirante to have Milan medical after Maignan injury

Antonio Mirante will undergo a medical tomorrow and sign a one-year contract with Milan after Mike Maignan had to undergo surgery on his wrist.

The Rossoneri found themselves with a shortage of goalkeepers after news Maignan will have arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist.

It’s not yet clear how long the France international will be out for, as the keyhole surgery is also in part to investigate why the pain continues several weeks after he clattered into the upright while saving Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool penalty.

Alessandro Plizzari is out until January following knee surgery, so this only leaves Ciprian Tatarusanu.

Milan confirm wrist surgery for Maignan

Mirante is a free agent after his contract with Roma expired and the 38-year-old met with Milan directors this evening to agree personal terms.

He will sign a contract to the end of the season, reportedly with an option to extend for another year.

Mirante had been in negotiations with Spezia, but Sportitalia suggest Milan had concerns about Maignan’s wrist and had him on alert in case he was needed.
