The current Nerazzurri number two’s contract is due to expire and although it had initially seemed he would extend for a year, Carrizo now appears likely to move back to Argentina.

This would open the door for Mirante to replace him, as the 31-year-old Parma goalkeeper will be released from the Ducali at the end of the season.

In addition, the newspaper believes that Roberto Mancini wants to keep striker Rodrigo Palacio at the club despite the Argentina international’s injury problems.

Palacio has struggled with an ankle injury since the World Cup last summer and his contract expires in 2016, leading to rumours about his possible departure.

The Nerazzurri are looking for a striker to partner Mauro Icardi next season, but are believed to want to retain the 33-year-old and his deal could be extended for another year.
