The midfielder completed his transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow for a reported €14.5m plus a percentage of his sell-on fee.

“First of all, of course I’m very happy that now it’s all official,” the Russia international told the official Atalanta YouTube channel.

“I’m really happy to be here. Everyone knows Atalanta very well, as they are one of the best and most interesting teams in Europe.

“I followed their progress in the Champions League over the last few months and saw the way that they play. I want to get better, be part of the team, grow together and win trophies.

“I am a great fan of football, so like everybody I watched the Champions League and Atalanta’s games. Like everybody, I fell in love with this team, the way they play, and I am so excited to be a part of that now.”

Miranchuk is a creative midfielder who has been brought in to act as an alternative to Josip Ilicic.

“I’ve always said that I don’t like to pigeon-hole myself as a specific type of player, I just want to give my best and then people will tell me what they think.

“People love Serie A and follow Italian football in Russia. There are many great players here, so I think it was an excellent option for me and my dream has come true by playing in one of the big European leagues.”

The player has decided to wear the Number 59 jersey for the Bergamo club.

“I hope to adapt quickly and of course be of use to the team. I’m happy to work with coach Gian Piero Gasperini, so I’m sure that if I listen to his advice, I will improve as a player and be of more use to the team.”
