Former Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli reveals he wanted to bring back Carlo Ancelotti and tried to sign Napoli winger Jose Callejon.

Ancelotti was linked with a return to Milan in the months after Li Yonghong’s ill-fated 2017 takeover, while Callejon was the subject of a possible swap deal involving Suso last year.

“We thought about him and there was some talk,” Mirabelli told Radio Kiss Kiss.

Ancelotti was linked with a return to Milan in the months after Li Yonghong’s ill-fated 2017 takeover, while Callejon was the subject of a possible swap deal involving Suso last year.

“We thought about him and there was some talk,” Mirabelli told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“We also wanted Callejon at the time, but it wasn’t our intention to sell Suso, also because we’d just renewed his contract. Suso always had admirers.”

The 50-year-old was then asked whether there were any negotiations for Gianluigi Donnarumma to join the Partenopei, given they are his hometown club.

“I never received phone calls from any Italian clubs for Donnarumma.”
