Former Milan director Massimiliano Mirabelli feels his administration deserves some of the credit for their current success. ‘You can see the fruits of our labour.’

The Rossoneri are still top of the Serie A table, even after losing their 27-round unbeaten league record in a 3-1 home defeat to Juventus.

“Stefano Pioli is doing a fantastic job because he hasn’t based it on individual talents, but always having an organised and compact team, all with the same spirit,” Mirabelli told news agency Adnkronos.

Mirabelli was in charge during the 2017-18 season, alongside Marco Fassone, under President Yonghong Li.

“I am happy with what Milan are doing, especially as if you look carefully, half the squad is there because of the work we did.

“I am therefore doubly happy to see the fruits of our labour. However, I do think the current administration have delayed too long in negotiations for contract extensions.”

Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu’s deals are running down this summer.
