Massimiliano Mirabelli has confirmed that Carlos Bacca will return to Milan, who will also look to sign ‘a top centre-forward’.

Mirabelli’s deals for Nikola Kalinic and Andre Silva last summer failed to make their desired impact, and the sporting director suggested they would be replaced by Bacca and another striker.

“Donnarumma? I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about figures,” he told Milan TV.

“We haven’t received any offers for Gigio and he hasn’t told us he wants to leave. For us, he’s an important asset. We renewed his contract a year ago.

“We want to keep him for a long time. He’s an important player for us. If he was to come and tell us he wanted out, a club must arrive with an appropriate offer.

“Attack? Cutrone will certainly stay. As for the formation, Gattuso will decide whether we start again from a 4-3-3. After that, there will be some tweaks.

“Bacca will return, we plan to change two strikers so we can sign a top centre-forward, plus a midfielder and a winger. The market? We can’t gamble, we need certainties.

“Milan invested so much last summer, but we couldn’t do everything in one transfer window. Now we have a base and we just have to make small adjustments.

“The number of players [we sign] depends on what UEFA will decide.”

The Colombian scored 15 Liga goals for Villarreal over the past season, but the Yellow Submarine are not prepared to splash out the pre-agreed €15.5m to make his loan spell permanent.
