Milito: ‘Martinez can be decisive’

Inter legend Diego Milito believes the derby against Milan “will be a balanced game”, and hopes Lautaro Martinez can make the difference.

The former striker was the Nerazzurri’s top-scorer in their treble winning season, and after five seasons at San Siro he knows the Derby della Madonnina better than most.

“The derby will be a very balanced game,” Milito predicted in Corriere dello Sport.

“They’ve always been like that, the derbies are unique, special matches. You win them with concentration and grit, more than with class.

“The games are always very close and the details make the difference to the result.

“One player I hope can be decisive is Lautaro Martinez. I know him, and he’s a great lad.

“There are great players on either side, although personally I hope Milan’s don’t show up and that Inter win!

“But Milan can stop the Nerazzurri if they’re not focused. If I had to say who worries me most, I’d say [Gonzalo] Higuain and Suso.”
