Milinkovic-Savic: ‘We didn’t play well, but we remained humble and calm’

Torino advanced after penalties against 10-man Cremonese in the first round of the Coppa Italia and goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic admitted ‘we didn’t play well’.

The Granata needed extra time and then penalties to overcome Cremonese in the chaotic Coppa Italia game.

It ended in a goalless stalemate and the match was eventually decided on penalties, when Torino prevailed to the second round.

“There were many difficulties,” Milinkovic-Savic told Torino Channel. “But we remained humble and calm until the end, and we brought home the win, even if we didn’t play well.

“I don’t want to say anything [about my own performance], I can only say that in my opinion, we are ready to start the new championship.”

Toro open Serie A 2021-22 against Atalanta at the Grande Torino on August 21, before travelling to Fiorentina in the second round seven days later.
