Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has experienced Dusan Vlahovic as a Serbia teammate and opponent when Lazio faced Fiorentina, so has no doubts over the striker. ‘He’s not good, he’s outstanding.’

The 21-year-old has attracted transfer interest from the likes of Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid after refusing to sign a new deal with the Viola.

Now he is taking a starring role for Serbia and goes into the crunch World Cup qualifier away to Portugal.

Lazio midfielder Milinkovic-Savic was asked to comment on FIFA.com about his ‘good’ international teammate Vlahovic and did not hold back.

“Good? He’s not good, he’s outstanding. I’m quite certain the stats would back that up, considering his age,” said SMS.

“However, I think he’s the type of player who still gets annoyed when he doesn’t play well, so he’s definitely going to get better and get the world talking about him, which is something I like about him.

“In both training and matches, he never takes it lightly when he misses a chance, so he has a hunger for scoring goals and winning. I like how he wants to prove himself, so I think he’s bound to become one of the greats.”

Fiorentina are asking for €80m to release Vlahovic in the January transfer window, although a sale next summer is more likely.

His current contract with the Stadio Artemio Franchi club runs to June 2023.

  1. In this case it wouldn’t bother me if one of those old, dodgy passports from the early 2000’s surfaced, with a pic of a bearded baby Dusan surrounded by Peperoncino, palm + pine tree’s, to show that in actuality, he’s from the Aspromonte in old Calabria! Imagine him + Chiesa upfront for Italy? 🧔
