Lazio confirm Sergej Milinkovic-Savic broke his nose during the defeat to Fiorentina and had surgery today to reduce the fracture.

The incident occurred just before half-time, when he accidentally clashed heads with Erick Pulgar.

Despite knowing at the time it was probably a fracture, the Serbian insisted on playing for the second half too with two large plugs up his nose to stem the bleeding.

Today a statement from Lazio confirmed Milinkovic-Savic had gone under the knife to reduce the fracture at the Paideia Clinic.

It’s not clear when he will be able to resume training or playing with a protective mask.
