Sergej Milinkovic-Savic admits he feels ‘emotional’ at wearing the captain’s armband for the Derby della Capitale and has an extra reason to lead Lazio towards victory against Roma.

It kicks off at the Olimpico at 17.00 GMT.

“I wasn’t there in the first game, we won, I couldn’t stay here to celebrate with the lads, but hopefully now we can do it all together,” the Serbian midfielder told DAZN.

Ciro Immobile is injured and Matias Vecino suspended, so Milinkovic-Savic experiences his first Rome Derby as the Biancocelesti captain.

“It is very emotional, I know that I take the club, my teammates and the fans with me, so I know what I must do.”

Milinkovic-Savic has not found the net since January, they crashed out of the Conference League to AZ Alkmaar on Thursday and his form has been stuttering.

“As you saw, things haven’t been going the way I wanted lately, but I am working to improve and a victory tonight could give me a helping hand.”
