Lazio are seemingly more confident of keeping Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and signing him to a new contract after no offers came in at all.

The Serbia international is only under contract until June 2024, so was expected to move on this summer.

However, the asking price of €40m has put everyone else off and not a single formal bid has been received.

Juventus had been the most interested, but Adrien Rabiot signing a new contract with them saw Milinkovic-Savic no longer become a priority.

Inter also secured Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo today, while Milan have their sights set on AZ Alkmaar midfielder Tijjan Reijnders.

With all that in mind, Sky Sport Italia claim that Milinkovic-Savic feels let down at the lack of interest and is now more open to potentially signing a new deal to remain at Lazio.

The fact they have qualified for the Champions League is also pushing him towards that potential extension, even if it will be a short-term one to give him freedom in future.

The other alternative would be an offer from Saudi Arabia, but he wants to continue playing at a high level.
