Amid interest from Inter, Juventus and now also Arsenal, Nikola Milenkovic looks set to sign a new long-term contract with Fiorentina.

The centre-back had been expected to move on this summer, as his deal is due to expire in June 2023 and he was promised an exit if the right offer came along.

However, Inter and Juve hesitated, preferring other targets and stalled by a lack of sales, while the Corriere dello Sport have Arsenal making a proposal too.

The asking price for Milenkovic is €20m including add-ons, but the situation has changed over the last few days.

It seems increasingly likely that the Serbia international will sign a new contract with Fiorentina until June 2025.

Radio Bruno report the 24-year-old will also get a substantial pay rise at €3m per season, becoming the biggest earner at the club.

The new deal could be signed as early as Thursday, before the Serie A season kicks off this weekend.

  1. Roma, and to a lesser extent Juventus, have been grabbing all the transfer headlines lately, but Fiorentina has been doing a lot of good under-the-radar work on the market this summer. They’ve brought in a great GK in Gollini, Mandragora (injury prone but has quality), a Luka Jovic looking for a rebound, in the interesting Dodo at RB. Meanwhile the’ve rejected a bid for Biraghi and seem set to keep Milinkovic. All added to a pretty good squad in their second year with Italiano. I see them well in the fight for a top 4 spot this season.

Feels like they lack one or two pieces to get on to the CL spots. But place 5-6 would be reasonable.
If they can get lo celso too before the mercato closes maybe they can fight for 4th even if both Milano teams, Roma and juve got better squads.

  3. Nikola Milenkovic has not reached Inter levels yet, he is still lacking focus for the entire duration of the match.

Watch him lose his man, especially at set pieces where you expect him to excel thanks to his tallness.

IF he is coming to replace Ranocchia, that`s fine, but nowhere near good enough to be a starter.
