Milik: ‘Six tough months’

Arkadiusz Milik was delighted to score in Napoli’s dramatic 2-1 win over Chievo after ‘six bad months.’

With time running out for the Partenopei both this afternoon and in their quest for the Scudetto, the Polish forward equalised in the final minute of normal time against the Flying Donkeys.

Sensationally, Amadou Diawara then completed the comeback late in time added on, taking Maurizio Sarri’s team back within four points of Serie A leaders Juventus.

“I am very happy,” Milik, who for the second successive year has missed a large portion of the season with a knee injury, reflected following the final whistle. “I went through six bad months with the injury, now I am ready to play and I am happy with his win.

“After my goal, we believed more. It really was a tough match.”

Despite Napoli’s struggles against Chievo and Dries Mertens’ missed penalty, Milik thanked the San Paolo fans for remaining behind the team until the end.

“At the start we didn’t create that many chances, but we did in the second half.

“We did everything we could to win, we are happy and now we look ahead to the coming matches.

“The fans are always with us, that is a very good thing. Now we have to think about training for the next game.”
