Arkadiusz Milik received the first Juventus red card of the season following a VAR review against Empoli, so will be suspended for the Inter showdown.

The Poland international lost the ball with a poor first touch and, in a bid to make up for it, lunged into the sliding tackle on Alberto Cerri.

The referee had originally only shown a yellow card, but changed it to a red following the VAR On-Field Review.

It reduced Juventus to 10 men from just the 18th minute against Empoli in Turin.

On top of that, it means Milik will be suspended for the February 4 Scudetto battle with Inter at San Siro.

Milik was a surprise starter this evening, as Kenan Yildiz had been expected to play alongside Dusan Vlahovic instead.

Not only is this the first red card of the season for Juventus, it is also the earliest dismissal for the club on home turf in Serie A history.

Cards were first introduced in the 1970-71 season and Milik equals the 18 minutes it took Juan Cuadrado to get sent off in the 3-0 home defeat to Fiorentina in December 2020.
