Arkadiusz Milik will undergo an operation after suffering a knee injury and Juventus fear a long stop for the Polish striker.

The 30-year-old forward started for the Eagles in their pre-European Championship friendly with Ukraine and suffered a painful injury to his left knee in the second minute, overextending it and colliding with Genoa midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi. He was helped off the pitch by medical staff.

Poland coach Michal Probierz later confirmed to the press that Milik would not be available for Euro 2024, an unlucky situation for the striker, who was forced to miss the last edition of the tournament back in 2021 due to a knee problem.

As confirmed by the Polish FA via Calciomercato.com, Milik will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee following the injury, having suffered a meniscus problem. He appears to have avoided any ligament damage, but there are still fears that he’ll be sidelined for a number of months.

The Juventus medical department have already been informed about the situation and are now waiting to learn the estimated recovery time. The club have reportedly been hoping to shift him in the transfer market this summer, something that’ll now be impossible.
