Arek Milik admits ‘Juventus must change’ after their 2-1 loss against Benfica: ‘We must take responsibility, we win and lose together.’

The Bianconeri have lost two games from two in the Champions League. It had never happened with the current tournament format. They are now six points behind Benfica and PSG who both beat them over the last week.

Milik broke the deadlock in the first half against Benfica tonight, but his goal was not enough for the Old Lady who faced a 2-1 loss at the Allianz Stadium.

“We controlled the game in the opening 25 minutes, we were doing well and scored. We lacked nothing, but games last 90 minutes,” the Poland striker said at a press conference attended by Football Italia.

“There was a physical drop. We are missing something, right now we are not looking for excuses. We must take responsibility,” he continued.

“Benfica showed a lot more, now we must shut up and work hard. We must be more wicked when we take to the pitch. Every Juventus player must take responsibility, we have many games left and we can recover.

“I don’t care about scoring goals I want to win. What makes me happy is to see the team win. We must do it together, hopefully, we’ll win the next game and continue to chase our targets.

“We win and lose together, it’s a tough moment and we want to come out from it as soon as possible. We lost tonight, but we can recover. We must change something, but it’s hard to say what.”

Angel Di Maria was caught talking to the Pole after the final whistle, seemingly asking him why Max Allegri had replaced him.

“We just spoke. These things remain between us,” said Milik.

What’s Juventus’ main problem? Is it physical, tactical or psychological?

“It’s a question I struggle to reply to. We must find a solution together, we have these drops and it’s hard to tell if it’s a physical problem. It can’t happen after just 30 minutes,” the striker admitted.

The ex-Napoli striker started the game with Dusan Vlahovic, what does he make of their chemistry on the pitch?

“I think we can do, even more, I’ve just arrived and we haven’t played many games together. The more we play, the better it gets. He is a strong player. With time, we’ll see how it goes.”
