Milik’s contract with Napoli was due to expire in June 2021 and he was frozen out for the last six months for refusing to sign a new deal.
This move was also in doubt until yesterday, when Napoli agreed to drop legal action against the Poland international over the 2019 ‘mutiny’ within the squad.
Before making the move, he had to sign a new contract with Napoli to June 2022, but it is purely a piece of paper, as Marseille are signing him on loan for 18 months with obligation to buy.
Milik turns 27 next month and Napoli signed him from Ajax in 2016 for €32m.
His career was derailed by two serious knee injuries, still scoring 48 goals in 122 games for the Partenopei.
I am happy and proud to announce that I am officially a player of Olympique de Marseille, one of the most prestigious clubs in Europe. I'm ready for this new adventure. Allez OM pic.twitter.com/Dw5MxrhInm
