Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik has revealed 'he rarely goes into Naples' due to safety concerns after he was 'followed for 5km by two scooters'.

After speaking about his gratitude for the support received since his ACL tear in October, he described the difficulties faced in a place where 'football is a religion'.

"I rarely go into the city," he continued in an interview with Sportowefakty. "Football is a religion in Naples and walking among the crowds is difficult.

"I go shopping early in the morning, or in uncrowded places. It is great to receive so much attention, but it is also true that sometimes you have to take a break from the hustle and bustle.

"Once I was followed two scooters for about 5km. At a traffic light, they knocked on the window, and asked me for an autograph. I feared they wanted more.

"Teammates have advised me not to carry around a lot of expensive items, like a luxury watch, because it would be unsafe. It’s better to avoid certain situations.

"I live between Naples and the sports centre. I wanted to be near the place where I train."

The Polish striker also told the Press that he rarely pays for a meal when restaurant owners recognise who he is.

"A little while ago, in San Gregorio Armeno, people realised who I was by looking at me, and they insisted on treating me to the meal.

"We know everyone in town will not hear of anything else, and when I'm around nobody asks us to pay. I have paid twice in ten restaurants.

But what about the progress of Milik's recovery?

"Everything is going according to plan, I have no problems with the knee. It isn’t swollen and there is no accumulation of blood. But I will not say too much.

"I’m not in a hurry, I still have a whole career ahead of me. I will return to the pitch when the doctors have judged that I am 100% healed.

"We hope this will happen in the spring."
