New Juventus signing Arek Milik believes he and Dusan Vlahovic can play together, but admits that it is difficult to compare his new teammate to Robert Lewandowski: ‘they are at different stages of their careers.’

The Poland international has joined the Bianconeri on loan with an option to buy from Marseille and made his debut as a substitute against Roma on Saturday.

He spent a short spell on the pitch with Dusan Vlahovic before the Serbia international was subbed off.

Max Allegri believes the two strikers can play together and Milik seems to agree with his new coach.

“I trained [with the team] only twice, three times with the team, and there is not much time for practice now,” he said at his unveiling press conference, as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.

“I can play with another forward, I did it with Lewandowski with the national team, but the coach has the last word. Let’s see how we’ll play, I’ll do what I can during training sessions.

“This is a special moment, it has always been my target to play for such a big club,” the striker continued. “It’s a great thing for me, I want to offer something special, score goals and be happy.

“I was close to Juventus in the past, but things went differently. I was close two or three years ago, but as I always say, the present is what counts. I am happy with my choice.”

Milik is a former Napoli player and spent four years and a half with the Partenopei before joining Marseille. He had been frozen out of the Napoli team in his final six months at the club as he had rejected to sign a contract extension.

“I am focused on the next game with Spezia, I don’t know when we’ll face Napoli. What didn’t work? I had to leave, it didn’t happen so I was frozen out [of the team],” he said.

“I feel well, I scored 30 goals in 50 games [with Marseille], but this no longer counts. In modern football, what you do now is all that matters. People never look backwards, the next game is always the most important.”

Szczesny is among the familiar faces for Milik at Continassa where he has been training with Vlahovic. Does he see any similarity between his new teammate and his compatriot Lewandowski?

“It’s hard to compare them, Dusan is really young, Lewandowski is in a different moment of his career,” the ex-Napoli striker claimed.

“They are two strong strikers, their goals speak for themselves. Dusan can still improve so much, he is 22 and can become even better. He has a great future ahead. Lewa is 34, it’s hard to compare them.

“I’ve known Tek [Szczesny] for a long time and the atmosphere since I arrived has been really good. The structures are incredible, the stadium, training facilities, here you only need to play football. Everything is organised and there are many people working with the team.”
