Milenkovic agrees new Fiorentina contract

Nikola Milenkovic has reportedly agreed a new contract with Fiorentina, despite weeks of negotiations with Tottenham and West Ham.

The defender’s current deal is due to expire in June 2022, so he had been on the market throughout the summer with an asking price of €18m plus bonuses.

At first he seemed very close to West Ham United, then those talks collapsed when Tottenham Hotspur came in with a more lucrative proposal.

However, in a surprise twice, Milenkovic has now decided to snub both of the Premier League sides and extend his contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The turning point was the Real Betis offer for his fellow centre-back German Pezzella, so selling Milenkovic too would weaken the defence too much.

He is also set to be partnered by fellow Serbia international Matija Nastasic, who can arrive for a minimal fee from Schalke 04.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Tuttomercatoweb and more, Milenkovic will pen a new contract to stay at Fiorentina until June 2024.
