Milan legends Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard united for a very special selfie. ‘The three musketeers back together.’

The trio of Dutchmen shared the field at San Siro from 1988 to 1993, before going their separate ways.

At the time, Serie A clubs were only allowed to have three foreign players in every squad and Milan were characterised by the Dutch giants brought in by President Silvio Berlusconi.

On the other side of the stadium, Inter had three Germans – Jurgen Klinsmann, Lothar Matthaus and Andy Brehme.

Together the Rossoneri trio won three Serie A titles, two European Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, two Italian Super Cups and the 1990 Intercontinental Cup.

Midfielder Gullit made 171 competitive appearances for Milan, scoring 56 goals and providing 40 assists.

Rijkaard had 201 games in the Rossoneri jersey, finding the net on 71 occasions with 21 assists for his teammates.

Hitman Van Basten joined from Ajax in 1987 and remained until repeated injuries forced an early retirement in 1995, but still managed an astonishing 125 goals in 201 games, plus 49 assists.
