Brahim Diaz’s future with Milan is growing increasingly uncertain, especially if the club pick up Charles De Ketelaere this summer.

The 22-year-old Spaniard had a fairly unconvincing season in Lombardy under Stefano Pioli, only scoring three goals and providing three assists as he struggled to make a strong impression in the Rossoneri’s Scudetto charge.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Milan signed Diaz from Real Madrid last summer on a two-year loan deal worth €3m, with a €22m buy option attached and a buy-back clause included set at €27m. The price is considered high by the Rossoneri management and they’re now starting to question the idea of making his stay permanent.

Should Milan sign a player like De Ketelaere this summer, there would be questions about Diaz’s role in Pioli’s squad next season. Some are concerned with the slow progress of the Spaniard’s development, so the club are now carefully considering their options and what the future holds for the 22-year-old.

  1. How can there be any question?

If a youth team player had performed like him they’d be finished. In fact in the few chances Maldini did he get he did no worse.

The double standards applied to players bought and youth players is utterly bizarre, and points the dysfunctional role of the transfer market in football.

  2. Both of you be quiet, he’s young and it takes time to grow into a good player. Maldini was as good as him? What drug are you on? He’ll get his chances, he’s talented.

  3. @13 Last Maldini was better than him…came in a substitute at 17 and never left that position for what 25 years… please know some facts.
