Milan’s disastrous defending in their last two Serie A outings against Lazio and Sassuolo has broken an unfortunate record.

The Rossoneri suffered an incredibly painful 4-0 loss to Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio on Tuesday, looking a shadow of the team that won their first Scudetto in a decade last season.

Coach Stefano Pioli was bitterly disappointed after the defeat and had hoped to see a resounding response in their following game against Sassuolo.

Unfortunately for Milan, things did no go to plan against Sassuolo and within 47 minutes they’d conceded four goals, breaking a Serie A record of theirs.

Pioli’s side have now let in four goals in consecutive league games for the first time in the club’s history, a sign of their defensive disorganisation.

It now looks unlikely that Milan will be able to defend their Scudetto this season, with Napoli already holding a 12-point lead over the Lombardy outfit.

  1. Last season proves that it was a complete fluke. No defending champion of any league puts together a run of humiliations like this.
