Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri recently wondered what Milan and Inter would achieve without five regular starters, but Stefano Pioli will be without seven players against the Old Lady today.

Milan and Juventus meet at San Siro at 17.00 UK time today. Football Italia is among the accredited media at the match.

Milan lost against Chelsea on Wednesday, while the Bianconeri won two consecutive games after the break.

The Old Lady has had a slow start to the season and less than a month ago Max Allegri justified his poor results in an interview with Il Corriere Della Sera, where he said he was coaching a ‘virtual’ Juventus due to the many injuries.

“I’m happy with the work in the market, I liked it. But the players on the pitch are not there,” he said. “Try taking five starters away from Inter or Milan.”

Well, Allegri’s claims have turned into reality now, as injuries have severely hit the Rossoneri since the international break.

Mike Maignan, Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias have joined Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Florenzi on the treatment table at Milanello, while Theo Hernandez will be back against the Old Lady today after missing the previous two matches.

“I wish only five players got injured,” Pioli said, smiling at a press conference on Friday.

“These things happen in a season, the last game [against Chelsea] was not satisfying, but I see a determined group of players.”

Juventus are without the suspended Angel Di Maria at San Siro today, as well as the injured Federico Chiesa, Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria.
