Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic will announce his future plans after the final match of the season against Sassuolo on Sunday, according to reports in Italy.

The 40-year-old’s contract at the Rossoneri runs out at the end of the campaign and no announcement has been made on whether the Sweden international will continue at the club.

Milan will wrap up their first Scudetto since Ibrahimovic’s first stint at the club in 2010-11 with at least a point on Sunday.

And Gazzetta dello Sport report it will be after the final match of the campaign that the ex-Juventus and Inter forward will make a decision on his future.

There have been suggestions Ibrahimovic could become a director at Milan, though he recently said he is anxious about retirement so could continue playing – whether that be with the Rossoneri or elsewhere.

While Ibrahimovic has not featured as much on the pitch this campaign, he has had a transformational affect since his return in January 2020 with Milan qualifying for the Champions League in his first full season for the first time in seven years.

  1. I think it’s time, specially if Milan win the Scudetto. Hanging up the boots in a top club after winning a trophy at the age of 40 … it’s not gonna get any better than that.
