According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have identified four transfer priorities for the summer: one centre forward, one central midfielder, one right winger and a back-up for Theo Hernandez.
The Rossoneri are still battling for a top-four finish in Serie A and will host Napoli at San Siro in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Rossoneri directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are already making their assessments ahead of next season.
The defending Serie A champions want to strengthen the team in every department, starting with the attack.
Olivier Giroud is expected to sign a new one-year deal, but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future in doubt, the Rossoneri need to sign a new centre forward. Alvaro Morata and Watford’s João Pedro are said to be on their agenda, although other reports claim Jonathan David of Lille is also in Milan’s sights.
Milan also need a new right winger who can give more unpredictability than Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias who have lacked consistency.
The third priority is a reliable back-up for Theo Hernandez, given that Fodé Ballo-Touré has struggled to impress only making eight appearances across all competitions this term.
Milan will also be looking for a new midfielder who can bolster Stefano Pioli’s options in the middle of the park. Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer, Rade Krunic and Tommaso Pobega are ‘untouchable’ but with Yacine Adli and Aster Vranckx on the brink, Maldini and Massara may be looking for a new central midfielder for 2023-24.
