Milan’s Adli to represent Algeria instead of France – report

New Milan signing Yacine Adli has reportedly decided to move forward with the Algerian national team, despite his lengthy youth career with France.

The 22-year-old attacking talent, who was born in Vitry-sur-Seine, holds dual nationality and has represented Les Bleus at every youth level from Under-16 to Under-20. His most recent appearance for France came at the U-20 World Cup in 2019, and since then he’s remained on the sidelines.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Adli has decided to represent the Algerian national team instead of France, where he’ll find teammate Ismael Bennacer. Fennec Football suggests that he’s already visited the Algerian consulate in Milan to apply for a passport and provide the necessary documentation to FIFA.

Djamel Belmadi, coach of the Algerian national team, has already guaranteed the Milan talent a call-up for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Niger, scheduled for March 20 and 28, 2023.
