Riccardo Saponara believes the work done by Milan since the appointment of Clarence Seedorf is starting to bear fruit.

The Rossoneri won 2-0 at Sampdoria on Sunday and the attacking midfielder was pleased with his side’s performance.

“I think we gave a good performance yesterday,” Saponara told MilanNews.it. “If we hadn’t played well at Samp we would have had problems.

“However we are working very well and it is starting to bear fruit.

“But the journey is only just beginning, we must improve a lot in some areas both as individuals and as a team.

“With the passing of time we will play even better.”

The 22-year-old then commented on his own individual prospects and form.

“I can’t I would have liked to play more,” he said. “But in hindsight I acknowledge I did not get myself into the right shape for the boss to call on me.

“It was difficult for the boss to pick me. It was not Allgeri’s fault, he made the choice he thought was right.

“Now I am training with continuity and I have refound my form and fitness.”
