Samu Castillejo will not be joining Sampdoria on loan from Milan after refusing to make the move to Liguria.
The 27-year-old Spaniard has hardly featured this season under coach Stefano Pioli, making only five Serie A appearances for a total of 122 minutes, but he is not desperate for more playing time, refusing to join the Blucerchiati.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Castillejo was clear in turning down Sampdoria’s offer, despite their attempts to convince him of the move over the phone. He refused to accept and now it’s likely that he’ll stay with Milan for the rest of the season.
Sampdoria’s negotiations with the Rossoneri had been going well, but unfortunately for them, the player’s will was decisive, forcing them to look elsewhere for a last minute reinforcement.
Castillejo has not made a single appearance yet in 2022, with his last game being 12 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Napoli back in December.
