Milan star Theo Hernandez says he has changed thanks to Stefano Pioli and Paolo Maldini as the Rossoneri celebrate the 19th Serie A title in their history.

The France international joined the Rossoneri from Real Madrid in 2019 and has become one of the standout performers at the Stadio Meazza.

Theo was asked his thoughts on Stefano Pioli after Milan’s 3-0 win against Sassuolo in Reggio Emilia, where the Rossoneri lifted their first Scudetto in 11 years.

“He is an incredible coach, he has changed me as a player and as a person. Credit to him because also thanks to his job we won this title, we are so happy,” he told DAZN.

“This day is so nice. When my baby boy was born…”

At that point, Samu Castillejo arrived, interrupting the interview to sing ‘Campeones, Campeones,’ along with his teammate.

“I was saying…I’ve changed in everything since he was born. There is my wife as well, she is there every day to help me. This is for her and my family,” Theo continued.

“When I arrived here it was difficult [to defend], it was different. I’ve been training all day. Paolo [Maldini] has talking to me every day and thanks to him, the coach and all my teammates, I’ve changed.”

Do Milan have the fastest players in Europe on the left win in him and Rafael Leao?

“I don’t know, you should ask someone else. We’ve done an incredible job. Rafa is a great player, now we must enjoy this…”

Maldini arrived for his post-match interview. The legendary defender was the man in charge of Theo’s signing from Real Madrid in 2019. He flew to Ibiza to meet Theo, convincing him to join the Serie A giants in a €20m deal. How was that day? What did Maldini tell him?

“As I’ve always said, it’s something between us. I want to thank him for everything. Thanks for his support and because of that, we are Italy champions today.”
