Lecce have activated their option to purchase striker Lorenzo Colombo, but Milan are reportedly ready to use their own counter-option.

The centre-forward is currently preparing for the European Under-21 Championship where he will lead the line for Italy.

This afternoon, Lecce confirmed they were taking up the €2.5m option to make the move permanent after he scored six goals and provided two assists in 34 games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia this season.

However, Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia both note that Milan intend to use their own counter-option to bring Colombo back for €3.5m.

Colombo is 21 years old and has four goals in 16 caps for Italy at Under-21 level.

Meanwhile, Lecce could do more deals with Milan in the same vein, bringing in Marco Nasti on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season and a similar counter-option.

The 19-year-old spent this season on loan at Serie B side Cosenza, where he scored five goals in 27 games.
