A board meeting today could not move things forward, so a new President and Board of Directors will be appointed on July 21.
Multiple sources suggested Leonardo had been approached for a role within the club, as he has experience as player and Coach at Milan, not to mention director and chief executive at Paris Saint-Germain.
Other names put forward by Sky Sport Italia are Sassuolo director Carnevali and Arsenal chief executive Gazidis.
It seems as if Elliott Management founder Paul Singer has a son who is a big Arsenal fan and knows Gazidis from visits to their games.
Gazidis has been chief executive of Arsenal since 2009 and previously helped boost Major League Soccer.
