Serie A returns with a bang this weekend, with these Milan vs. Juventus predictions looking ahead to one of the big games on match day nine. Both sides have lost just once this season and will be out for a confidence-boosting win on Sunday evening.
1 – The draw – 12/5
2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 4/6
3 – Both teams to score – 19/20
4 – Olivier Giroud to score anytime – 12/5
5 – 1-1 at full time – 11/2
Milan go into the weekend top of the league, although that may have changed by the time this game kicks off. But Stefano Pioli will be confident that his side will be able to reclaim top spot with a win against Juventus in the San Siro.
He will have to do without his first-choice keeper though, after Mike Maignan was shown a red card in stoppage time of the win over Genoa. Olivier Giroud is not expected to take his place this time but the French international’s absence could pose a problem for the Rossoneri.
Even though Milan have lost just once this season, that thumping defeat to Inter will still be raw for Pioli’s players and they will do well to finish the weekend with another three points. A close game should be expected.
Juventus have also only lost one game this season but some less than impressive draws sees the Old Lady four points below their hosts. Maxi Allegri will also be without Nicolò Fagioli, after the young midfielder accepted a plea bargain for sports betting violations.
That will disrupt the Juventus midfield as they look to concentrate on the league this season, after being banned from European football. It will not be a surprise to discover Allegri being keen just to get back to some actual football on Sunday.
Juventus have looked good in spells this season though and they could give Milan a real game here. Both teams will be looking to the full extent of their squads to get through this one – and it would not be a surprise if the game finishes all square.

Milan (4-3-3): Sportiello; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Bartesaghi; Reijnders, Adli, Musah; Pulisic, Jović, Leão
Juventus (3-5-2): Szczęsny; Rugani, Bremer, Gatti; Locatelli, Rabiot, McKennie, Miretti, Weah; Chiesa, Kean
Stefano Pioli is forced to bring in Marco Sportiello in goal again because of Maignan’s one-match ban. He will also need to replace the injured Théo Hernandez, with Davide Bartesaghi the likely replacement there. The hero of the Genoa game, Olivier Giroud, may not start but could well be the one who saves the day again – but up the other end of the pitch this time.
Maxi Allegri also has a number of injury problems and may have to bring in Daniele Rugani for the injured Danilo. Dušan Vlahović could also miss out, with Moise Kean coming in as a replacement. But Federico Chiesa should be fit enough to start.
