Milan centre-forward Olivier Giroud has scored his 51st goal in the France jersey, matching the record set by Thierry Henry.
The 36-year-old bagged a brace against Australia in their 2022 World Cup opener in Qatar.
It was an historic appearance for several reasons, as he was already the oldest player to appear in a World Cup for France at the age of 36 years and 54 days.
He then became their oldest ever scorer in this tournament with a goal to make it 2-1 on an assist from Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Then the veteran rose to nod in a Kylian Mbappé pull-back from the by-line and that was his 51st goal for France in 115 caps.
This equals the record set by former Juventus forward Henry.
It took Giroud 11 years to achieve that tally, as he made his debut in a 1-0 friendly victory over the USA on November 11, 2011.
His first goal for Les Bleus was in the 2-1 friendly win over Germany in February 2012.
